Hassan J. Azimi, M.D.

Dr. Hassan Azimi believes in providing a personalized approach in combining the highest level of patient care and research to address your orthopedic health problem. His philosophy is that tailored approach to your individual life circumstances, career and physical goals is the most appropriate and effective way to practice medicine. He enjoys spending time with his patients in the office to address their individual needs and goals.
Background and training:
Dr. Azimi was born in rural Colorado. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he majored in Biochemistry and minored in Chemistry and Leadership while graduating summa cum laude with distinction, at the top of his class. Dr. Azimi then completed his medical training at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. After graduating medical school, he completed his orthopaedic residency training at the University of California, San Diego. Following residency, Dr. Azimi completed a hand, elbow, microvascular and upper extremity fellowship at the world-renowned Rush University in Chicago, IL with the esteemed Dr. Mark Cohen. During his training, Dr. Azimi cared for many professional athletes including the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
Memberships and Interests:
Dr. Azimi is a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). In addition to completing a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery he completed a fellowship in orthopaedic research. He has published several research articles in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national meetings, and written numerous book chapters and surgical techniques to advance orthopedic surgery care. Dr. Azimi has specific interests in minimally invasive techniques to address surgical issues from the shoulder to the fingertip as well as complex elbow injuries, arthritis and stiffness. He cares for all ailments of the upper extremity including fractures, tendon and ligament injuries, cysts, arthritis and trigger fingers.
Hobbies:
Away from the office, Dr. Azimi cherishes family time with his wife, son and energetic puppy. He enjoys hiking, surfing and loves exploring the Southern California outdoors. During his time off you’re likely to find Dr. Azimi hanging out with his family at the dog beach, farmer’s market, or surfing.
